Hi all,

I'm sure you know the different Wikipedia websites. There is
also Wikipedia software, but it is only for high tech IT
people who can work with servers etc.
Does anyone know of a similar program to make personal
wiki's (not necessarily to be published on the internet but
for personal use) on Windows operating system?

I've been fairly well satisfied with this one:

The latest mediawiki is a easy to setup.
If you have mysql installed.

Once you unpacked the stuff, use your browser to configure it.

Thanks for all sugestions. However, myqsl is not really an
option (too difficult?).

The suggested Notebook programme is great but lacks two
important things: images cannot be entered, and there is no
export facility.

It might just be that I'm asking for something which either
does not exist or only exists as shareware...

I've not investigated properly, so forgive me if I'm somewhat
misinformed. Xemacs supports wiki:
http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/http-emacs/
"http-emacs includes http-post and http-get which allows you to fetch,
render and post html pages via emacs. It also includes simple-wiki-*
modules, which allow you to edit remote (and local) wikis via emacs, and
also includes a major-mode for the same."
Doubtless there are other wiki clones for Emacs.

Xemacs can also display pictures.

And, as I mentioned facetiously in a different thread, you can also play
Space Invaders with it.

It's also a built-in psychological analyser.

But it didn't help. :o)

Requires Ruby, but should set up in moments.

Wikipad and WikiServer may also meet your needs.

Otherwise, you might want to try an outliner like Treepad or Tranglos
Keynote.

Cheers,
Mark

If you're looking for an all-in-one Wiki, I've been having great fun
with Michel Van De Wetering's version of the Eddie Edwards Wiki Wiki Web
http://wikiserver.michelvandewetering.nl/?Download. It's an
all-in-one Wiki server. Download it, unzip it, run it, point your
browser to http://localhost. You're up and running. Anyone who can see
you through port 80 can see the wiki interface. Even has user level
permissions.
