Just purchased a wifi modem from France Telecom (national
telecom carrier and also biggest ISP). Modem is OEM from
a company called Inventel. Instructions with the modem
say to override the warning that drivers are not certified
for use with XP. Installed drivers, rebooted and
got "STOP 0x000000ED UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME" error.
Diagnosis showed file system had been corrupted. Managed
to fix with chkdsk /r.

Any ideas on this out there ?

Paul,

Thanks for your reply. I couldn't boot the computer at
all but I managed to get back in via Win XP Recovery
Console, then was able to run "chkdsk /r" on the active
partition. This restored the file system, then I was able
to boot OK.

But I'm still left with the same wifi drivers (from
Inventel) that I am pretty sure caused the problem in the
first place. I was trying to find if someone had come
across a similar problem - or knew of a reliable fix.

Glad your were able to recover your machine.

Does Inventel have updated drivers or ones which are atleast WHCL'd?
