Hi

I am completely new to this arena. I need to setup a wireless network for
home use.

2 x Desktop PC's
1 x laptop

What do I need?
How secure would my network be?
What would the throughput on my network be?
How do I share files, printers and internet?

Please help.

Thanks
Joe

Are you saying that you want to share a high speed internet connection among
3 computers?
If so then you need a wireless G-band router (netgear, d-link, and linksys
are the best) and 3 G-band wireless network cards (or USB adapters) for each
of the 3 computers. Most newer laptops (last 2 years) will come with a
wireless network card built in. Some aren't that good though.
There's still many variables as far as what to get and the setup can range
from being plug-n-play easy to being a little difficult (with DSL, sometimes
you have to change the LAN IP of the router or enter in PPPOE info).
If you want to save yourself a headache or two, check at a couple of your
local computer stores for someone who does computer work on the side and
hire them (or someone you know). In the end you'll get a good learning
experience and may be able to do it yourself next time.
On a side note, you can sometimes (depending on who you get on the phone)
get the router support people to walk you through the entire setup.

The LAN will be WLAN.... at least that's the aim or goal. The intertnet
connection on the server is ADSL. I am in the process of buying Netgear
SuperG ??? equipment. This is the access point and cards to go with it.
