Compaq Armada m700 with XP home.

Recently performed a system restore to the first re store point.
I have installed the software to use linksys wpc54g wireless card.
When I plug the card in, the linksys icon changes from grey to green
indicating system is functional, however, the windows supplied icon
comes on with a red x. Indicating no connection.
Double clicking the icon brings up the available networks box and
tells me windows can't do anything because I'm using 3rd party
software.

Ok now what?

Before you go saying "Well dummy, hit the switch". I have. Nothing
happens.

I have had this card in use on the same machine before and I never
once hit the switch to activate it.

So what's the procedure to get it activated?

Here's on thought: Use a restore point after the wireless card was
installed, or reinstall the software for the card. The problem is the
registry references to the card, etc., not the software which would not
be removed by the System Restore.
