Running Windows2000 SP4 I find that after applying the above update
that the following programs that previously ran fine on this machine
to show port activity now show nothing at all -

Sysinternals tcpview v2.40
Nir Sofer CurrPorts v1.09
Smartline Active Ports v1.4 - (will eventually crash)

an older copy of Antiy Labs AntiyPorts v1.2 still seems to work fine
as does netstat.exe

I'm assuming that it is KB914388 that caused this behavior since
nothing else that seems relevant changed.

Has anyone else noticed anything like this? What happened?

Thanks for any info.

Sorry for the misspelling.

And using PortQryV2, when I try portqry -local, I get the msg

Processing local system's ports...
Failed to get TCP endpoints.
Failed to get UDP endpoints.

Port and Module Information by Process

Note: restrictions applied to some processes may
prevent PortQry from accessing more information

For best results run PortQry in the context of
the local administrator

(I am running with admin rights.)

I am experiencing the same problem and could not find out why getting tcp or
udp endpoints will not work with port query or tcpview tool. it works on xp
and 2003 but not on my W2K test servers.

I removed 914388 hotfix, rebooted, and was able to use tcpview and port query.
I am going to check with Microsoft on this issue.
