Hector

I am having trouble with my computer not starting or closing down correctly.
The only "strange" thing I have been able to find when I run msconfig, is an
entry in startup called:

yenuxbhtod.exe-start.

I have done multiple searches on the net and cannot find anything like this.
Its location is listed as SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

I have unticked it in Startup, but it just comes back.

I am running Windows XP home.

Does anyone know what this is and if it is likely to be the cause of any
problems.

Download, install, update and run all of the following.

Ad-Aware

Spybot search and destroy

Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware (Beta1)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...A2-6A57-4C57-A8BD-DBF62EDA9671&displaylang=en

If none of the above fixes the issue then download Hijack this, run it, save
a copy of the log file and cut and paste it back here to the group so that
it can be analyzed.

A while back, when I was studying the anti-spyware trade, the standard
response was..."If you can't find any info on it, it's probably malware!"
Reputable software firms don't have anything to hide, so you'll find
references to their stuff all over the web. The bad guys have to hide their
stuff in order to trick you. Beware the malware - it comes looking for you!

A simple, quick workaround that will prevent the program from executing
is to rename it. I suggest changing the extension to ".Rexe". If you
find that you actually need the program, just change the extension back
to ".exe"

If it comes back (another file with the correct extension), you
probably have some malware on your computer that regenerates itself.
