I've got two xp home machines, linksys wireless router, one system is a
desktop and one's a wireless laptop.
On my desktop, I have a folder labled downloads that I used to put my
internet downloaded files into. I have recently enabled filesharing on that
folder. My laptop can browse the contents of that folder, but only SOME of
the files are able to be accessed. On the others that cannot be accessed,
the associated icon for that file is gone and replaced with the generic
'window' icon, and when I try to run one of these files it gives me a dialog
box; "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not
have the appropriate permissions to access the item." The wierd thing is
that I've shared other folders and full access to all files in them from
what I can tell.. what would all this mean?
