For a game to play fine on a widescreen monitor, the game should support a
widescreen resolution. In this case, the game you are running may not support
the widescreen mode. Hence you are experiencing this issue.
If the game is played on a widescreen monitor, then the game is displayed in
the middle of the screen, and has black borders around it
1400x1050 has the same resolution code as a 4:3 monitor, i.e. a normal
non-widescreen monitor. So when the resolution is set to 1400x1050, the
computer tries to emulate the non-widescreen resolution on to a widescreen
monitor. Hence the black borders appear.
Some games will have the option to change the resolution and if the game
resolution is set to resolutions like 1600x900, 1920x1200 or 2400x1350, the
game appears in widescreen. But however there will be a lag I think.
Also if the game is played in the above resolutions, the game will be
stretched out. This happens because the game is not designed to work with
widescreen monitors.
The only option is the game, that you are going to play on your laptop
should support Wide screen.
