Why does Windows Messenger 5.1 want to connect to the internet when I boot
up. I have Sygate Personal Firewall Pro which shows me this at bootup that
it is trying to connect to Port 1900 on the router. I can block it
initially, then it wants to connect to another port. It is an endless loop
until I end the process and it aborts, I want Messenger to launch when I
want it to and not when Microsoft thinks I do. I do have MCE 2005 installed
which uses this app in it's shell, but I rarely use it. I prefer to use MSN
6.2 on the desktop instead. I have uninstalled Windows Messenger from add
remove programs, but it still is there. Is there a way to edit the registry
so it is not launching at bootup. Thanks for your replies.

Open the messenger from the taskbar and check your options/preferences.
Don't let it run in the background nor start with Windows.
