My ECS KN1 SLI computer (award bios 6) which has 6 SATA ports (1-4 Nvidea
NForce4 and 5-6 Silicon Image) was running okay with ports 1-4 in use. I
then connected an additional two 500GB sata drives to ports 5-6. Now the MB
will not enter bios setup using the normal DEL key.

Help!

.... and if you remove the drives again, can you then enter the BIOS? If so,
then this must be power related. If not, then this has been a problem for a
while and you haven't noticed. Have you bought a new USB keyboard to replace
an old PS/2 one perhaps?

Possibly power, but another thing to try is disconnecting
the port 1-4 drives completely and leaving the port 5-6
drives connected to see if it makes a difference. If it
does, perhaps a bios update would resolve this.

Also if the drives are SATA300 but the board isn't, check
for a jumper to force SATA150 mode.

Kony,

Did as you suggested re removing the other drives and I was able to enter
setup. Then replaced them and all is now well. I think it was the on
board Silicon controller that was not being recognised.

Thanks,
