Why won't outlook let me create or save a new appt

I set up my calendar a couple of months ago and when I tried to update it for
future appointments and change past appts. it would not let me save the
items. When I click on appt, the new appt area is grey and not even an
option...
 
You may need to clear your forms cache.
Tools->options->other->advanced->custom forms->manage forms.

First, you may want to try running scanpst.exe against your .pst file where
Outlook keeps all of its items.
