Why won't laptop keep sound drivers?

I have a laptop which I use exclusively for DJ'ing with BPM studio. I route
the sound through GigaportAG USB soundcard, but I nearly always have to
reinstall the drivers for it when I power up. Once installed it works fine.
Can anyone explain why this should be happening. The result is the same
whether I have the USB connected or not both on power up and shut down. I am
running XP service pack 2, and the driver is the latest version from
Gigaport's site. Thanks.

The first time you bought the soundcard, did you install the drivers BEFORE
you connected the soundcard?

If not, uninstall it, ensure that no trace remains in Device Manager, then
install the software and only connect the card when the software tells you
to do so.

Yes, the set up procedure prompts you to connect/disconnect the USB as it
goes through the installation program. I'm looking further to see if it maybe
is the BPM program that doesn't log on to the device. Thanks. Clive.
