Using W2K Pro and Excel from Office 2003, SP1. Prior to upgrading Excel from
Office 2K, could click on an xls file name in Windows Explorer and it would
launch Excel and open the desired file. Now Excel launches, but get error
message "Can't find file (path) make sure filename is correct and all
required libraries are available." What "library" is missing and how do I
install it? Have tried re-installing Excel.

Hi Frustrated,

Try this:

Start, run,

"c:\program files\microsoft office\office\excel.exe" /regserver

(use the quotes, make sure the path is correct).

I updated the path to "office11" and ran your suggestion, but it didn't fix
the starup from Explorer problem. Any other suggestions?

Do you still get the error message or does it launch Excel, give you no file
and no error message?

If so then try Tools / Options / General tab / Uncheck 'Ignore other
applications'

Thanks Ken, that fixed it.
