Hi!

I'm running windows XP and have windows automatic updating active. I have a
long list of components that the service says I need to install. I click
download, but I never get to the step where I'm asked to install the
downloaded components and the list of components is still the same after the
"download".

So what's wrong? Is it because I have a hardware firewall? Is automatic
updating running through some special ports that need to be opened?

I can't seem to find any info anywhere on this problem.

Regards,
Svante

Hi Svante

- Please go to START-> CONTROL PANEL -> AUTOMATIC UPDATES and tell us what
checkboxes you have checked there.

- When you tell the Automatic Update to install the Updates, dows the
download show Progress and reach 100%?

Also try this:

Insert the following link in Internet Explorer:

http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

- There Scan for Updates

- Once you have picked your Updates choose to install them.

If this does not work, please specify, where exactly the problem is/what
does not work.

NOTE: I don't think that your Hardware Firewall is the problem - I have
never had problem with using WU/AU with my Router...

Thanks and Regards,

Fabio
