Although I realize this MS newsgroup is not for HP
matters, I couldn't find an appropriate discussion group
for my question so thought I would just post it in
cyberspace and see if someone could address my curiosity.

As stated in the subject line, does anyone know why the
HP Deskjet 920c printer was discontinued? I realize that
it is not a high speed printer but for my infrequent
printing needs I find it quiet and it provides good
quality print even in draft mode. So, if there is anyone
out there who has an answer to my curiosity, I would
appreciate hearing from you. Thanks.

You would be better off asking HP this question. But each printer model
usually is available only for a year or so. Folks want newer, shinier,
faster models that do more and more. Just like the car manufacturers with
their new models year after year, you may find very little has changed....
except the name! But if you go into a store do you usually buy last year's
model when this year's model is out? Probably not (unless you get a really
good deal!).....

I think the word you are possibly looking for is 'marketing'. Economics 101
also has a lot to do with it!

i think it was a money issue. they need it. they want
ours.
of course. this industry changes daily. what is a
perfectly functional printer is now slow. doesn't work
well with digital photos. has poor resolution.
