Why the terrible playback quality?

All of my movie clips(AVI) and photos(jpeg) look and sound great in the
project windows while I edit, but when I save the movie and play it, all of
the pictures are very blurry and the audio is just noise. I've heard of a
slight compromise in quality, but this is extreme. What is happening?

I am having the same problem! This is the first time I am using Movie Maker
on a new computer. I created a movie as I've always done ... and saved to
"Best Qualtiy" and also to Video/Broadband (512 kpbs). Both instances appear
fine in preview ... but color is totally wacky in the final project. Flash 8
will not allow me to import it either! Any suggestions?!?!

Since you can't seem to open it with Flash8 then it may be a codec problem
but I can't be certain about that.
Usually with codec issues I suggest going to: http://www.free-codecs.com/
and downloading the Windows XP Codec pack to see if that solves it.
In our case though I would also recommend going to your video card
manufacturers website and seeing if there is a newer video driver available.
