Hi,
I'm in trouble with an error from worksheet. I have 5 cells with total value
different from 0. However, the SUM formula can not give out the correct
total.
Can anybody help?

Thanks

Hi
The most likely cause of this is either some of those 'numbers' are not
seen as numbers by Excel, or that the cell formatting is hiding some key
info.
to test for the first add a new column with =1*A1 (or wherever the
orignals are) - this should give a #VALUE! error if any entries are not
numeric.

To test for the second increase the number of decimals to 5 or 10 or
something and see if things make sense then

If these don't fix it then please post more details about the actual data

Cheers

Hi,
I tried both of the suggestions below as well as others from 2008 posts
(copying, pasting special...). I have made sure that I have no text in the
cells. I have also opened up a brand new workbook, put 1s in five cells,
entered the SUM formula both manually and with the toolbar button, and I am
still getting "0". I started out with a budget spreadsheet but now I cannot
add anything. I have been an excel user for years and have never encountered
this before. I hope someone can help!!

Its not a manual calc issue is it?
does it work with =A1+A2+A3 etc in a cell?

did you try rebooting and a new workbook?

Cheers
