It pops the windows with "The server connection timed out" when i tried to
copy and paste the access data file into frount page folder list?

Thank you

Use File Import instead of Paste

On some hosts the Default is still set to 1 MB for anonymous uploads.
There is a command that your host can run on the server that will increase the
anonymous upload size for a given web site. The command (for all ports) is as follows :
owsadm -o setproperty -pn vti_maxuploadcontentlength -pv 7000000
The size at the end of the line is in bytes.
The Owsadm.exe can be found by them at C:\Program files\common files\Microsoft
Shared\Web server extensions\50\bin folder.

Hi, thank you for the reply.

I tried to use import as well, but still it appear "the server connection
timed out"

I checked in my folder, but i can only see either 40 or 60 but not 50.
Also, i can't find the Owsadm.exe file.

Is there anything wrong?

At first time. i was able to paste. But after 2nd time (i deleted or
overwrite) it just can't do it anymore.

Thank you

Are you using http://localhost on your own PC, or a remotely hosted
server? If remotely hosted, you will not have the extensions files on
your own PC - they will be on the Server concerned.

The 40 refers to FP2000 extensions running with IIS on your own PC,
and the 60 refers to FP2003 design time extensions, which are used for
disc-based webs.

Hi,

Yes, i'm using http://judy/store2 as the directory location.
And i'm using frontpage 2003 right now. But i can only see fpmmc file under
40 and not in 60 ( i think maybe i didn't completed the install with 60 one).

If there is anything wrong, i'm happy to re-do again, even re-install the
Frontpage or IIS.

Thank you

You do not have FP2002 extensions installed, therefore the files
referred to by Stefan do not exist.
The 60 extensions are installed by FP2003 when that is installed, but
are only used for disc-based webs. These are configured (as far as
they can be configured) within FrontPage, and not by any mmc.

As far as your Access database is concerned, if (and only if)
everything else on your website is working correctly, create a new
database containing one very small empty table, and give it the same
name as the existing database. Import that into FrontPage and allow
FP to move it to the fpdb folder (FP will also set the correct
permissions on the folder, and create the database connection). If
this fails then there is another problem.
Then use Windows Explorer to replace the database with the correct
one, without involving FP at all.
Finally, open the site in FP and run Tools->recalculate hyperlinks,
followed by Tools->Site Settings - database tag and verify the
database connection.

Hi Ronx:

Thank you for the reply.

So far, i m able to import the empty access database into frontpage and that
auto-created a fpdb folder and saved under the folder ( which couldn't
before).

But after that "Then use Windows Explorer to replace the database with the
correct
one, without involving FP at all." I don't know how, can you please say more
clearly?
Thank you. Like, how can i replace the database from IE ?

Thank you

In Windows Explorer - not IE - browse to
C:/inetpub/wwwroot/store2/fpdb where the database is stored.
Simply drag the real database here, overwriting the dummy small one.
Then open the site in FrontPage, recalculate hyperlinks and verify the
database connection.

Can I butt in with two caveats for Judy?:

1- If she's not running a server on her local machine, she won't be able to
test run the database right?
2- Does her host server support Access db?

Just thought I'd bring this up before she gets way into this aspect of her
project.

/R

Good points.
Judy is running a local server, as per the web address in an earlier
post.
Judy will need to check that if the web is to go public, she will
publish to a Windows host, and may have the same problem again
publishing to there.

1- oops sorry; misread the "50" directory explanation

Hi, Now the access file is able to read from frontpage now. Thank you.

You have mentioned about go public, how can i do so? thank you

Also, just another quick question, Once my web is finish (cross finger),

Do i just upload to the webspace ? will all the hyperlink auto update? coz
if they will, what is the point of having save the web files in normal
directory than http://judy/store ?

Thank you, Your help is very useful.

To "go public" publish the website to your webspace. To run Access
database, your server must be a Windows server.
When you Publish - use File->Publish Site and fill in the location as
http://yourdomain.com
All hyperlinks will be updated for the webspace, provided you have
allowed FrontPage to manage them as relative links, and not as
absolute links.
On your own machine, there is no point in saving the files anywhere
other than http://judy/store , provided you do regular backups.
