Hi;

Why some software like MS word, after every change creates many temp icons
on the screen? how can i get rid of that?

Thanks,
Faram.

Hi, Faram.

Do the temp icons remain after you exit Word? On my computer, Word keeps
the temps until I close Word, then they all get deleted.

You said "some software like MS word"; what other software is doing this?

MS Word questions should be addressed to one of the several Word newsgroups
here (where the Word gurus hang out), not to this WinXP NG.

These temp files are created when you open a specific file and the purpose
of the temp file is to allow the primary file, the file you opened, to
remain intact until you save any changes to that file. Have you ever opened
a file and as you were working on it completely messed it up? If you have,
all you have to do is close the file and when it asks if you wish to save
changes, click no. No matter how messed up the file was, if you didn't save
the changes, you can get right back to where you began without having to
restore the file from backup.

Hi,

Ever used "undo"? When you open a file in many programs, a copy of the file
is created to work from. The temp files are various changes you have made to
the original and not yet saved. When you close the file, the changes are
either written to the original, or not if you have chosen not to save.
