what might be the reason for an excessive hard drive running when I make
minor changes in a 20 minutes long movie. Because of this hard drive running
the processing of any command takes about 5-20 minutes. Because of this
slowness I can not preview my movie before saving it in the final format.

My system: 2.1 Ghz processor, 120 Gb hd, XP with SP2, 500 kb RAM. virtual
memory set at 1500 kb.

When the hard drive is run the processor is idle (about 2 % load). My movie
has about 20 clips, some additional music, the video is digitial video at
720x480 pixels at 30 fps.

Is this simply too much for the MovieMaker or what might be the problem. Any
and all help is greatly appreciated since currently any change takes about 20
minutes to take effect and nothing can be previewed.

I have spent few days reading the posts on this and papajohn's boards
finding little help for this moviemaker problem.

thanks in advance

Video editing is resource intensive and
your system is somewhat minimal. More
RAM and a larger hard drive could help.

Also...it could help to disconnect from the
net and close all programs especially virus
scanners before opening Movie Maker.

And it might be worth a try to do some
maintenance...
