Slide show unexpectedly turns off during the show as if it times out...why.
PPoint 2007.
PPoint 2007.
Every slide show (or at least it seeemed like every slide show) that day
had
to be re-started sometime during its presentation
that when the slide show would stop, PPoint would return to the first
page,
but when any of us would hit the small slideshow icon the slideshow would
resume where it left off.
Echo S said:Most PPT settings that would affect this are presentation-specific. That
means it's not something that would affect all presentations on the machine.
Since it's happening to all your friles, I'd turn off background
applications like virus scans and such. Also check your power settings on
the computer and see if the harddrive or monitor are set to sleep after a
certain period of time. (This is expecially prevalent on laptops.)

Can you clarify this? Are the presentations starting over at the beginning,
or are they dropping into PPT's editing view, or are they just locking up,
or what?

What "small slideshow icon"? There's a "resume slideshow button" that shows
up if you're using extended desktop, and it often shows up when something
else has stolen focus from the presentation.

Thank you for the reply. We were on "presented by speaker" mode, not

that
ran on this particular computer. A number of us prepared different slide
shows and loaded them onto a computer that was hooked up to a projector.

the
computer is locking up. When the slideshows would stop, they would return

referring to is simply the regular icon at the lower right of the screen
which changes view from edit mode to slideshow mode.
Thanks,

Hi,
What is your slide show setup? from memory, if you run it in Kiosk
mode,
it
will time out after a certain period of inactivity and recommence. Is
this
what is happening? Else, what are your timings for transitions?

As I mentioned, I'd turn off any background applications as a first
troubleshooting step.
You might also check for PowerPoint and Office add-ins.
Nobody's hitting the Esc key on the keyboard by mistake, are they? No papers
pushing on it inadvertently or anything like that?
This is definitely much more dramatic than something stealing focus from
PowerPoint yet leaving the slide show running in the background. I can't
think of anything specific that would cause this, though.
Bad RAM on the computer? That's been implicated before in spontaneous
reboots and the like. Couldn't hurt to check...
