Why outlook 2003 appointments got longer w/clocks at ends

Suddenly I noticed that some of my "no day/all day" appointment bars now span
more days than they did before, and at either end of the bar there is a
picture of a clock, which was not there before. What has happened? What
does this mean? Note that I sync calendar with Palm device. Could this
have something to do with it? How do I go back to what I had?

I did not consciously install the "dst update" whatever that is. I did,
however, install Visio 2007 Professional Upgrade edition. I wonder if that
brought something along with it. I do believe that the changes which
occurred are limited to specific periods, which may be the ones you mention.
Please enlighten me as to what happened, what the dst update is and how to
correct it?

the DST update is pushed out by windows update to windows xp and 2003. It
fixes the time zone/ DST start and end dates to conform with the law that
changed the dates beginning this year.

There is an outlook tool to adjust the appointments -
http://www.outlook-tips.net/archives/2007/20070221.htm has links to the tool
and other articles you might find useful. Try the DST wizard.

BTW- it's the first week of Nov, not Oct. DST can end as late as Nov 7
beginning this year and start as early as Mar 11, up from Apr 1.

This has nothing to do with the DST update. I have used outlook on my work
and home machines synced by a Palm Pilot and this started showing up last
December on both systems affecting all day appointments in the summer of
2007. I don't have the "show time as clocks" option selected. Several other
posters I see in this forum have the same problem.

when all day appointments move to 2 days it's because the time zone changed.

What OS? Are you in the US and if so, are you aware of the changes to the
DST start and end dates the government mandated? As a result, Microsoft
created a time zone update patch so computers would have the correct time.
This update affects all appointments falling in the new DST period.

See http://www.slipstick.com/index.htm for more info and links to additional
information.

I'm using XP Pro and yes I'm aware of and have done the DST update but this
started happening last fall and many of the dates affected are next summer
not in the change region. Also, if I look at the recurrance info on one of
the affected appointments and one I just created that shows up like it should
they look identical. Start and end times for whole day appointments are set
to 12:00AM in either case. Also as I said earlier I don't have the "show
time as clocks" option set and I've never changed time zones.
