My internet service is much worse since I upgraded
computers. I had Windows 98 & Outlook Express. Now I have
Windows XP Home & Outlook 2002. One of the chat reps
referred me to the Symantic site. I followed their recs
re: XP settings, and am now doing a little bit better with
internet browsing speed. (Still have lots of problems when
using chat forums & newsgroups.)
What I'd like to address today is Outlook 2002. We have
two e-mail accounts on our Earthlink dialup account. They
each have separate incoming & outgoing servers. I used the
support files to make sure I had the right servers, and
believe I do, as here is what happens:
The first time I do send/receive with Outlook 2002, and
pick the "all accounts" option, usually both accounts will
prompt me for passwords, then both download properly.
However, this will only work once. The second time,
account #2 will have a cannot connect to server error, but
usually account #1 will download. After that, usually
neither account can connect to server.
As you may imagine, this is quite disturbing since I had
no problems with OE, and in fact had it set to
automatically check for new mail at intervals. Does anyone
think "detect & repair" would do any good?
