Why no SP1 from Windows Update?

My system is Vista Home Premium with all the Windows Update fixes
installed. But WU still does not offer SP1 and I can't figure out why.

I've looked at the KB article that explains why SP1 isn't offered by WU
and none of those reason applies to me. I've verified that all my
device drivers are current. I've run SFC. But still no SP1.

Does that mean there is some weirdness lurking in my system that is
totally not apparent? Or should I bite the bullet and download the full
SP1 installer and just run it (and hope for the best?)

Check your system properties page (WinKey + Pause/Break) to make sure you
are not already running SP1 and if not then go ahead and download the
standalone installion package. The installer will set a restore point. You
can always uninstall the upgrade if things don't work out. MS gives free
support for SP1 installations at:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?prid=11274

Thanks for the keystroke tip. I am not running SP1. Guess I'll bit the
bullet and download the full boat.

You may have to reinstall a driver from the sounds of things, but that
should be no big deal.
