Why no delete?

I am new to newsgroups and windows mail (Vista). I was just wondering why
there is
no delete (right click) for new messages. If I want to delete one or more, I
select in the normal
way, but then have to hit the delete button to perform the action.(menu from
right clicking has no delete like
with email messages)?

For one thing there isn't much need for it in a newsgroup. Just change the
view settings to hide read messages. I rarely have a need to delete a
newsgroup message.

Unlike an email server, a news server doesn't know when you have
downloaded and read a message. All that intelligence is local to
your pc. Thus if you delete a message rather than marking it read
next time you download messages you will get it again since it
isn't on your pc.

Just be content to mark the messages read instead of deleting them
and the use filters or views to hide read messages. To all intents and
purposes that is same as deleting them.

To actually delete the messages from your system you need to
run maintenance and clean up messages...

Tools > Advanced > Maintenance > Cleaning Up Messages
