My machine running XP Home used to get dialled up to my broadband connection
as it booted up until recently. Now it only connects when I light up Outlook
Express. I've searched around to try and see what has changed, but to no
avail, and I cannot find what needs switching back on to revert to auto
dialup. Can anyone offer any help please?
Thanks

Broadband is always connected - DSL

Generally, but not universally true. Some broadbands require the PC to
'dial up' the service although it doesn't really dial up anything - it just
appears to.

Hi Don, Not sure what I have!!! , but my machine does dial up as it goes
through its boot-up routine. However I have just seen that in the "Tools -
Internet Options - Connections" page, the radio button for "never dial a
connection" was lit. I have now changed that to "Always dial my default
connection" and that seems to have done the trick, although I cannot figure
out what caused it to change in the first place, One of the numerous auto
updates perhaps, Who knows. Thanks for your help anyway.
