Using Windows XP Pro

The drive is allways seeking every 4-5 seconds...This is very, very annoying
since this drive is not the quietest.

My previous Raptor 74 gig didn't do it ?

what is the problem ?

thanks

Power on your PC to BIOS screen. Listen to a Raptor drive. Is it still
seeking every 4-5 seconds?

No it doesn't seek in the bios ....

I also install tweak UI to disable optimize HD when idle

no difference

there is no program in the startup folder, I remove antivirus....

Allways reading and seeking when I'm doing nothing ??

If you have any ideas ? thanks

Try
http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Filemon.html
and see what's doing the disk activity.

disable drive indexing in services.msc??

Tried it...no result.

here is the answer from WD

Dear jean,

Thank you for contacting Western Digital Customer Service and Support.

You may have a power management setting enabled in your BIOS. I would
suggest updating your BIOS and controller drivers. I would then suggest
resetting your BIOS to its defaults. Please remove any jumpers on the drive.
Also you will want to verify your system is producing adequate power to the
drive. Please try using the 4 pin legacy power connector as oppose to the
SATA power, or vice versa.

Sincerely,
Dallas L

No diffrence. As soon as I open Internet Explorer it begin to seek like
crazy. A friend told me NCQ was the culprit but how to disable it ? i
dind't install the IDE drivers from Nvidia because everybody seem to
consider them as crap.

You don't have NCQ. It wouldn't cause your problem.

SATA-2 features like NCQ are not supported by the MS IDE driver.
