A couple of "yeah, it's been reported before".
No kidding! Since we all have used x-and-y-and-z in examples many times
over the years, I think we can say with impunity that this is a relatively
new problem. (Where "new" is more than 4 months ago, but probably less than
a year ago, off the top of my head.)
In any case, the current problem with the MSDG server (which appears to be
fixed, at least for now ;->) has nothing to do with the x-and-y-and-z
problem.
It has to do with the problem that I described in the thread "FYI: MSDG not
displaying posts" less than 2 weeks ago (it seems like so much longer ago),
which is similar to the problem that you reported some time in Dec, as I
recall vaguely.
(I cannot find the Dec(?) discussion, even with a Google Groups search. I
vaguely recall that the initial incident was just after Thanksgiving -- Nov
26 in the US; and it occurred again within a couple weeks of that.)
Simply put.... The MSDG web interface obviously accepts and pushes new
postings to the MSnews server, since they appear on the MSnews server as
well as on other NG servers, e.g. Google Groups. But the MSDG server fails
to store and/or retrieve those new postings itself.
As to why this keeps happening periodically, that's anyone's guess. I have
my own educated WAGs. But they're worth the paper their printed on
.
