Why is web page cache not working?

I thought when you click the BACK button the previous page should be
displayed rapidly because it is supposed to be cached.

Yet that is not happening. Instead the page is taking as long to display as
the first time I navigated to it.

Any idea why?

Hi,
Make sure that the cache isn't too large. Internet Options> General> T.I.F.>
Settings. 50-60 MB is enough for most purposes. Also, doesn't usually make a
big difference, but under "Check for newer versions of stored pages" uncheck
"Every visit to the page."

Or, the cache may be corrupted. Try deleting the T.I.F. folder. See
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

Clearing the cache occasionally is a good practice. I'd recommend once a
day.

Hope this helps,
Don

Thanks Don.

Some combination of the following seems to have fixed my problem:

1) Setting the size of the Temporary Internet Files disk space to 55 MB
2) Clearing the cache with the Delete Files button on the General tab.
3) Selecting the "Never" option for "Check newer versions of stored pages."
