Why is Vista doubling in size? It was about 3.75 gigs and is now almost 8
gigs in only three day.

TIA

I am not sure where you got that size of a file. Even the 64 bit is not 8 gig.

I checked the properties on the windows folder and it is 7.41 gigs and 37, 877 files.

When it was installed, it was originally just over 18,000 files. So over a
few days it seems almost double.

There was an issue in beta 2 where some indexing files would not be cleaned
up properly and would eat more and more hard drive space.

You could try navigating to the folder
c:\programdata\microsoft\search\data\applications\windows\projects\systemindex
You will need to enable 'show hidden files and folders' to get there.
Once inside the folder, delete any files with the .gthr extension. Skip any
files that toss a 'file in use error'

I believe the issue was resolved in later builds, and I havent seen it since
beta 2.
Also your second post indicates that it is the Windows folder that is
growing? if that is the case then it would not be the same problem.

Have you installed any 3rd party software? Most software throws files into
the Windows folder and/or Windows subfolders.
