Custom Views, Custom Fields, Sort by clicking on the view's Column? I'm
talking about the local address book on my computer, not the one on the
exchange server, but if you want to keep a replica of it there for backup,
please do.
I don't want to be nasty, but Lotus Notes had those features at least 10
years ago.

PS: If you already have them, then please let me know how to use them.

Outlook developed the Contacts Folder to have these features, not the
Address Book view. It is featureless.

Thanks for your quick response. Yes, the Contacts section has all the
goodies, I think it might be helpful to "switch" to a "Contacts" defalult
view, once it contacts selected from the address book, as I am always coming
from there to look for a contact.
(I'm not sure that's clear, but what I mean is, when I click on the To: or
invoke the address book, once I pick Contacts, I would like to use the tools
available in the Contacts Folder, including various views.

I agree. You can send Outlook feature requests to (e-mail address removed) with
"Outlook" in the subject and to (e-mail address removed)
