Why is Outlook 2003 synchronizing folders from a PoP email account!

I have one internet email account. No Exchange. I loaded Outlook 2003 3 days
ago. All of a sudden. Today, it is synchronizing my folders. It takes
forever and seems to be in some kind of a loop. 2 hours and still no email
downloaded.

Let the games begin, again. Another product from Microsoft with major bugs
right out of the shoot. SP1 ready yet? Any Microsoft employees here care to
tell me how to disable the synchronization of my folders to other folders
that don't exist?

Do you care to tell us what options you selected before shooting off your
opinions about Microsoft????

Milly,

First. I am not 'shooting off my opinions' I am stating a fact. Outlook 2003
is very problematic. Go to Google Groups and type in "Outlook 2003 problem"
and you will get over 57,000 hits. How long has it been out, a few weeks!
Sure some of those hits are unrelated or bogus, but there is a lot of
unhappy people out there over the litany of bugs in Outlook 2003.

Second. Specifically what 'options' are you referring to? As I am not using
Exchange, 'Synchronization' is not even an option. Especially since there is
nothing to sync to.

Milly is correct; you are shooting off your opinions. Also groups are there
to report problems/questions so it is logic that you don't see posts from
people who are working flawlesly with the new Outlook. You can see that I
post here many times and here I find that lots of posts regarding problems
on Outlook 2003 are not just Outlook 2003 but also bad network
configurations, old software/add-ins and just doing things wrong.

Anyway, the options we would like to here about are the Send/Receive
settings which you can find in Tools-> Options-> tab Mail Setup-> button
Send/Receive... Also how many accounts do you have configured in Outlook?
Just for the record; Synchronisation is still possible when you have a POP
account configured. This is the case when you only download header and/or
leave the messages on the server for an x couple of days. When these items
get deleted or when the x number of days have past Outlook needs to delete
those messages by the means of synchronisation.

Also note that we don't really care about opinions about Microsoft here (if
we had bad opninions on this for ourselves we wouldn't even be here). When
you post a problem, suggestion or question it is enough to stick to the
subject (which taking an aim at Microsoft is not).

Regards,
