Hi,
I have a Windows 2003 Server with no major software, just MS Office
and MS SQL Server and no antivirus software too. It is a standalone
machine and it has an SQL database with 500Mb of data and a procedure
that takes a a few hours to run. This machine has a 3 GHz CPU and
1028MB RAM.
Thing is that I have another Windows XP Workstation with SQL Server
Personal Edition, 2.8 GHz CPU and 512 MB RM. However, my process takes
1/2 the time to run on this workstation.
The Harddisks are both IDEs => The controller on the workstation is
"Intel 8280...Ultra ATA Storage Controller" I am not sure about the
Server.
Why would this be??? Some suggestions on what I can do to improve
speed on the server?
Thanks.
