Why is jump drive now write-protected

I have a 16 meg jump drive running under WindXP. It is used for
backing up a folder. It is oiw write-protected and I cannot remove
the protection. Please help with this.

Did you flip the write-protect switch on the side?

I did not know that there was such a switch. What does it lok like.
I'll check it.
