Why is it showing as a PowerPoint show?

I need to have my clients view a PowerPoint (not a pdf) from my web site. You
can download the file fine. But, when you click it to view, it is coming up
in the PowerPoint show mode instead of just a PowerPoint (which does not
allow you to see the text well). Can someone tell me how to have this appear
as a regular PowerPoint file (the extension on the document is for a
PowerPoint, not a PowerPoint show).

If your users are using Internet Explorer to open the file they need save it
to their hard drive first. If they click open, then IE will launch the file
as what's known as an Active Document, where the PowerPoint application is
embedded within IE and opens the file. In this case it does it in
presentation mode. There is absolutely nothing you can do to affect this
behavior however. You'll simply need to find a way to either instruct your
users to download the presentation before viewing it or place the
presentation in a .zip file which will force them to open the .zip file
outside IE and then they can save or bring up the presentation normally.

Hope this helps,
