Can anyone tell me why my hard drive is super busy when my screen saver is
on? I have tried to see what process is running, but as soon as I stop the
screen saver the hard drive no longer is active. Any suggestions?

what are you using for a screen saver? if its some type of application it
will tie up resources on your system...

Hi Lyle,

Probably the indexing service. Quite normal.

XP does something all previous versions of Windows didn't do (by
default). It partially defrags your hard drive, based on your usage.
Specifically, it moves the most commonly used files to the front of the
drive and does a partial defragmentation. (If you purchased the full
version of XPs defragmenter, Executive Software's Diskkeeper, it does a
complete deframent.)

I'll bet you can guess when XP does this. Hint: It picks a time when you
have not used your computer for a period of time.
