Excel 2002 on XP. When I start it up by clicking on a local file, my
firewall asks if it should let XP connect to the net. Whats it doing?

Hi
Excel has a Online help included. Probably for this it tries to connect
(laso for reporting errors Excel will try a connection)
I prevent these connectiony in my firewall and no problems with that
:-)

Is it only one/some Workbook(s), or all? If the former do you have a Web
Query in them?

Maybe it was just a one-offf as I've tried again and it didnt do that. But
it was just a very standard xls no macros or anything just lists of numbers
and text.

Update; It seems my firewall (Zone Alarm) is being a bit too enthusastic at
the moment and translating some requests as being for the net even if they
arent.
