Why is code from a mapped drive considered "Internet"?

Hello all.

I am working on an application which will sit on a shared drive. I know
there are a couple of ways to make .Net like it security wise, but I am
confused as to why it is considered "Internet" not "Intranet" on the zone
settings.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Thanks

For completeness I should mention I fixed the problem.

The drive was mapped by the IP address, not the host name.

Once the drive was re-mapped the application did use the Intranet rules.
