On my computer, I use my IE to open the word document, but it annoys me that
the document is openned out of the browser, a winword.exe is launched to do
it. What's the problem? Is there anywhere to configure it?

Best Regards!
Yours Sincerely Tommy

Troubleshooting In-Place Activation in Internet Explorer
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=174893

Hi,
I use Win 2000 and IE 6 SP1.
In order to open a file in IE I checked the "Browse in same window" box on
my WinExplorer->Folder Options->File Types.

HOWEVER: I could do that for some files XLS, PPT but c a n n o t do it
for other like Word or txt or bmp etc. since it apears grayed/dimmed in the
File Types tab.

Note I tried to find the http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=174893 as
suggested by Frank Saunders - but it is not available.

Any suggestion wellcommed.

Regards,
Nic

This article tells how to go the other way, but some reverse engineering
might solve the problem:
