// Why I find Qimage not usable //

Hi all!

I have been complaining about Qimage not supporting signatures, so
necessary for professional work, and about problems when I tried to use
"cutouts" to include signatures in my prints. It is all detailed here:

http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/view_topic.php?id=91941&forum_id=33

(**The thread above has been locked in stevesforums and this important
followup removed.** )

This is so important for me, that I kept checking all by myself, and
finally I could confirm what I insisted so much on in that thread: QI
can easily get in trouble using cutouts.

Anyone interested should be able to confirm it too. Simply try to
attach the cutout/signature that I offered as an example on the thread
above, to a few images. Here is that cut/sig again:

The minute one exits the Full Editor after attaching it *to more than
one picture* the developing problems finally crash QI. Probably after
rebooting the cut/sig keeps attached, but sooner or latter some
manipulations can bring another crash. See:

I have checked it in two systems, Windows 2000 and 98. The cut/sig
tiffs are written by Photshop 7 and all programs read them easily. But
there is more. Apparently, *the dimensions* of the cut is what makes QI
stumble. Other tiff cutouts of 1306x1006 get QI in trouble too. (And
more: since long I have noticed "ghosts" on the screens in my cut/sigs,
but since they printed OK and I have been fighting with more serious
problems, I had let it go. See below.)

One more time. If at least QI had a simple way to add at least simple
signatures, as I insisted so much in the thread above...

(And a sophisticated signature system? Hmmmm, that seems too much to
ask for.)

Regards,

Rick Trelles

Rick,

I don't understand your campaign to spray this idiocy across the
internet. I have informed you in every forum/group where you have
posted this that your cutout (TIFF file) that you are using is
corrupted. I don't know how it got that way, but if you simply open it
and resave it in PhotoShop, Paint Shop Pro, or any other software, it
will remove the corruption and you will have no problem whatsoever with
your cutouts/signature. Please spend more time making valid image
files and less time posting this on every forum you can find.

A 'professional' would add the signatures and numbers to each print by hand.

Jon. [Whose prints are all numbered, titled and signed individually]
