You may need to apply updates to the office computer, too, then.
What exactly is missing? Is it like Excel spreadsheets or other stuff
that
could be linked?

You're using PPT 2003, right? On the problem system, go to Help|Check
for
Updates and install the latest service pack (currently SP2) for Office
2003.
That will resolve the "missing content" issues.
