Why I cannot see "xyz_files directories in FronPage2003 local webs

The problem:
after I added a chart to file xyz.htm I wanted to publish it as a single
file. It does not work i.e. the chart does not display on the remote website.
I have to publish the whole website to see the chart.

Possible solution:
The chart sits in an automatically created xyz_files directory on my local
website BUT the directory is invisable and I cannot get in there and publish
the xyz_files content individually.

My question:
How to make the xyz_files directory visible on my local website? or how to
make the individual file publishing work with the new chart added without the
need to publish the whole website every time I add a new chart?

thanks
George

Are you Importing the chart into FP first, then placing it into your design from within FP?

Once you've done a full publish, then you can publish changes only.

1. no, I copy the chart (as microsoft picture) from Excel to Word and then
from Word to FrontPage2003 (FP). Do you think this is the problem and I
should copy the chart to a FP directory and then from that directory to a
destination page xyz.htm within my website?

2. Every time I do a full publish it seems to be going through everything;
not just changes - it always takes similar amount of time.

thanks
George

Not Copy...Import it into FP.

What format is the chart in?
Why are you bringing it into Word?
I guess I'm confused.

Rob,
I do not want to copy formulas and data required for the Excel chart; only
the chart itself.
Just tell me what I should do best.
George

Select the Chart in Excel, Copy, Paste into your favorite image editor, Save As a .gif file, *Import* the .gif into FP, from there place your image into your design.

That's one way.

Ok Rob - will do,
just clarifying when you say "..place into your design" do you mean copy and
paste?
George

Insert Picture, or even Drag/Drop.
I stay away from Copy/Paste.

Import image from outside FP into your Images folder
With the page you want to insert Image into, either Drag/Drop from the File List...or Insert Picture, then browse to the Images folder to select the image.

Got it - thanks Rob
