One day everything oke, the next day I can't open my file anymore, because
excel needs a password. I never set one. So I can't possibly know the
password.
How does this happen and how to revert it.

Thanks for the answer,

The version is 97-2003 and running on Vista

Tryed the first link, did not work.

When I try to open my file, there come's the pop up, 'name file' is a
protected file
password:

I'm sure I never set one, I only remember that the day before the problem's
started when I saved the file, excel asked me something unusual aswell, I
don't remember what it was, but that might have changed something.

If you want me to try, send the file attached to an email to (remove spaces)
Help From @ JLatham Site.com and I'll see what I can do. Somewhere around
here I have some tools that may uncover the password - but then again,
perhaps not. But we can't know for sure without trying, can we?
