Why e-mails not in italics in OUTBOX when working offline

I have installed Microsoft Office 2003 on my new Dell Dimension 8400. I use
dial up, not broadband.

Unlike my previous Outlook I now find that when I hit Send on a new e-mail
when offline it goes to Outbox but not in italics. So it is not sent when I
go online. I must first go online before hitting send.

Have i got a wrong setting somewhere? Thanks!
