Why don't my pictures upload?

I have been working on my first website, and I am having a
major problem getting the pictures to upload when I go to
put it on the web space I have (FreeHomePages.com/powow).
Some of the pictures upload and some don't. I have done
everything I can think of--shortening the file names;
changing the extensions to lowercase; and then
re-uploading. I just re-did one part of it; the thumbnails
are okay, but the full-size pictures don't come up and one
of the articles, the background didn't come up. This is

Why do some of the pictures work and others don't? I'm
ready to quit.
 
Have consider reducing the overall image pixel and file sizes (KBs)? Your
ISP and/or host may be limited the KBs that can be uploaded.

I don't think you have optimized your larger photos. What is this 'Kiss my
Grits' pop-up for!! And Inet-Traffic, Inc.... I'm sure not going near that!
There's some strange things going on. And now a pop-under I can't get rid
of! Speaking only for myself I would ask that you go elsewhere for your
help.

photos." Fans of the "Alice" TV show would know what "Kiss
My Grits!" is. I don't know what you mean by Inet-Traffic,
Inc. By a pop-under, if you mean the banner at the bottom,
the website puts that in automatically on every page
whether I want it or not. What do you mean by "strange
things going on"? I don't think I deserve to be treated
like I am a nuisance just because I am asking for help!
 
Hi Carole: Re the optimizing, the graphics on your site are huge in web
terms, it took almost 5 minutes to download one of them at the hotel i am at
right now on dialup. There are services available to compress
(optimize-Google search) your graphics for quick download with little loss
of quality. Secondly, on the pop-ups and unders, many people do not have a
pop up blocker, so it becomes very frustrating to have these occur. Possible
solution is go to a FP friendly web host company.

The problem with visiting your site, is that a ads popup under your home
page in a new window each time you view your home page.

What is meant by resizing and optimizing your photos is for example:

pmckeon81.jpg
1375141 bytes (1.38 MB)
2727 x 3753 pixels

The photo should be reduce to something like 600 pixels wide, then optimized
to the smallest filesize.
