Why don't MS Support .NET Speech on PocketPCs ?

There seem to be so many opportunities for Speech enabled Applications
(Text to Speech) on the PocketPC. We would like to use .NET Compact
Framework technology, since this is the easy to develop/ future proof.
But the only available TTS products (e.g. ELAN SAYSO and TEMPO) only
expose COM based interfaces, which would require complicated eVC++
unmanaged wrapper code to be developed.

I was hoping that MS would be moving quicker with its .NET and Compact
Framework and Speech.NET technologies. We cannot wait for MS to catch
up, we will just have to consider persoanl Java based solutions.

Which Java solution are you considering? I'm not aware of any usable Java
speech offering for mobile devices.

While a nice thought, I've seen no Java implementations either, and every
Java implementation I've seen costs significantly more that the CF. I agree
that TTS would be a nice addition, but I'm unsure how moving to another
language that also have little support is going to help.
