why dont hotmail.com work?

i've tried to get on this but it would not let me use my hotmail.com

Any Windows Live ID should work with the correct E-mail address and
password. If you cannot remember the password, then you can have it sent to
your alternative E-mail account. The alternative is to create a new Windows
Live ID to sign into this community, which it appears you have done to post
your message.
