Why don't control tips show?

The control tip string entered in the control's property sheet (specifically
a command button on a form) does not show when the mouse pointer is placed
on the control. I am using Access 2003 with Windows 2000. I would
appreciate any help.

Most often this happens when there's some other control -- often a
rectangle, or "box" -- that Access considers to be in front of the
control with the controltip. In design view, click on the control with
the controltip to select it, then click Format -> Bring to Front. See
if that corrects the problem.
 
Thankyou for the suggestion Dirk, and I was greatful for your quick response,
unfortunately it didn't solve the problem, so I'm still confused as to why it
won't work.

Hmm, that's odd. I don't have Access 2003, so I can't test it, but I'm
not aware of any reported bugs in A2003 control tips. The
ControlTipText is specified for a command button, you say? Is that
command button located on a main form, or on a subform? Can you get
control tips to work on other forms? On other controls on this form?

I am also having the same problem on both old databases and new ones
I am running Win XP Pro Sp2 and Office 2003...

I cannot get the controltip text to work in Access

If I make a form in excel and use the controltip there it will work.
just cannot figure out why it wont work in Access
 
I tried it on a different computer using Office XP and windows 200
and it work.

So I dont really know what to do from here darn. Oh well
 
Shut down your workstation completely, then turn it back on. That restored
my controltips showing up.

"Bring forward" didn't do it. Logging off and back on didn't do it.
Restart didn't do it.

Go figure.

Hope this solves your problem.
