Why doesn't "paste special" always show all the options?

I did ctrl+C on slide "A" of a presentation (normal view or slide sorter
view), then I opened a new presentation and did paste special. Sometimes
"paste special" gave me all the options like Slide, PNG, Enhanced Meta file,
JPEG ....... Sometimes, it gave me only one option - Slide.

Why did this happen? What did I miss? Only one slide was involved when I
experienced this problem. It is not like I have more options for one slide
and less for the other slides.

Appreciate advice.

If the Slides pane has focus (ie, that's what you last clicked on) it can only
receive pasted slides, not graphics, so that's what Paste Special offers.

If you click on the slide itself, you get the wider range of choices.
