I don't blame you for SHOUTING, but some folks here may not appreciate it.
I see lots of posts about the installer popping up every time someone tries
to run one or more MS Office applications. The first time I ever installed
Office (Office XP, alias 2002) I made the mistake of performing the default
installation. After that there were occasions when I would try to use some
feature that, it turns out, had not been installed during the default
installation. I have taken the easy (perhaps idiotic, but disk space is
cheap) way out ever since then. I perform a custom / complete / whatever
they're calling it in this version installation. And I don't see this
stupidity any more.
I only mention my history because it might possibly apply to your situation.
It also might not.
I think you should post a response and inform everyone of the following:
1. what type of installation of Office you performed (i.e. complete, custom,
whatever)
2. which version of Office you are using
3. since you mention this has only been happening for, roughly, a week --
what changes, if any, were made to your system at that time. ANYTHING at all
counts.
4. any other information you can think of which -- however remote the
possibility -- might have some bearing on this issue
The more precise your question, the more direct and precise the answers
should (we hope) be.
I have been flabbergasted for quite a while by how good the Microsoft Office
apps have been. Yes, I know we can all pick nits, and even find pretty big
flaws, sometimes. But these are COMPLEX applications. Nobody else on the
planet provides an integrated application suite this good. But I have also
always been astonished at just how stupid the installation process is. Damn,
Microsoft, warn people right up front about the implications of the choices
they are making!!! Lots and lots of Open Source guys have figured that out.
